In addition to an API and software developer kit for programming the robot, are there any additional software tools provided through which the robot can be programmed?
None provided, though an advanced programmer could use Visual Studio or Android Studio to develop custom components for the robot.
How is the robot powered/charged? Please provide specifications on voltage.
The robot can be charged wirelessly through the charging pad, or through a barrel jack. The wireless charging station plugs into the wall and is compatible with both 110 and 240 volt AC, given the correct power adapter. The barrel jack accepts 9 volts at 5 amps.
Does your solution include an application programming interface (API) or software development kit (SDK)?
Misty supports both a set of HTTP APIs and an onboard SDK that you can use with C# to develop applications (“skills”) that run locally on the robot. An onboard Python SDK is also available.
What programming languages are supported?
C#, if running on the robot. If consuming the HTTP APIs, any language or tool that can issue HTTP requests will suffice.
What operating systems are supported?
It depends on the tools and use case. If you’re developing against Misty’s HTTP APIs, any operating system will work. If you’re working in C#, then Windows is currently supported.
Is the robot operating system (ROS) supported?
No, not directly, though Misty could operate as a ROS node through the HTTP APIs available.
What are the communication interfaces (e.g., USB, Ethernet, wireless)?
The robot utilizes USB, and 802.11 A/B/G/N/AC WiFi. The robot also uses Bluetooth LE during onboarding. As a developer, the primary interface is wireless.
What hardware and software support do you provide for troubleshooting for this platform?
We have community-based support for our customers. We do service the community forum and help customers where it is needed. If there are hardware issues, that would generally fall to customer service, and that robot would need to be replaced under warranty. For more in depth support, we offer consulting services on a time and materials basis. We maintain developer documentation for Misty’s APIs and SDK online at docs.mistyrobotics.com.
What is your warranty plan for this platform?
Misty Robotics warrants to the original purchaser (“Purchaser”) of a Product that: (a) the Product, except for the motors, will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase following the original retail purchase (the “Product Warranty Period”) and (b) the motors included in the Product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one hundred and eighty (180) days or one hundred fifty (150) hours of operation, whichever comes first (the “Motor Warranty Period”). The Product Warranty Period and Motor Warranty Period are both referred to generally as the “Warranty Period”.
